Once Upon a Time

The group exhibition "Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod" (after the German title of the western "Once Upon a Time") is a proposal by Damien Deroubaix. It gathers the works of five artists to explore the notion of evanescence. Using a wide range of artistic mediums and approaches, Julia Cottin鈥檚 burnt palm trees, Val茅rie Favre鈥檚 "Suicides" painting series, Ma毛l Nozahic鈥檚 chimaeras, Barth茅l茅my Toguo鈥檚 private gardens and Nicole Tran Ba Vang鈥檚 artificially-aged busts revolve around representations of death in art and popular culture. As contemporary versions of the memento mori, they echo the ghosts that haunt Deroubaix鈥檚 solo show on display in the main gallery space.
