As part of the statewide celebration of Alabama鈥檚 bicentennial, Our Shared Heritage will present important works by Alabama artists from the Museum鈥檚 permanent collection. The works will span the early 19th through early 21 centuries, and include early Alabama
portraits by William Frye,
Nicola Marschall,
William Halsey, and
Adrian Thompson; mid-20th century paintings, photographs and works on paper by Anne Wilson Goldthwaite,
William Christenberry,
Kathryn Tucker Windham, and Richard Zoellner; and contemporary works of art by
Gary Chapman,
Evan Wilson,
Helen Vaughn,
David Parrish, and
Clifton Pearson, among others. The exhibition will comprise two parts, one historical, and the other contemporary. A fully illustrated catalogue will accompany the
exhibition to provide a permanent record.
