Mitochondria Gallery is pleased to present 鈥淧lace of Repose鈥� a group exhibition. This exhibition features sculptures and paintings from contemporary artists from Africa and the African Diaspora. The 鈥淧lace of Repose鈥� is an ecosystem where the weary find a glimpse of refuge. This exhibition offers two perspectives: first, as a reminder to live in the present, reflect, and appreciate life as it is; and second, to actively make time to unwind and participate in rest, both physically and mentally.

Comprising of small to large scale works, this exhibition features abstract textile sculptures as well as figurative paintings that examine the human condition using styles of abstraction, realism, cubism, and surrealism to represent their subjects.

As we reflect on the year, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve you all and your continued support, which helps us further expand the platform for art from Africa and the African diaspora.鈥淧lace of Repose,鈥� is a reminder for us to remember to rest and take time to nurture our mental and physical well being which is very important especially during the holiday season.
