Rebecca Farr: Earthly Appetites, Paintings from 2015-2025

Feb 07, 2025 - Apr 05, 2025

RAM is pleased to present Earthly Appetites, a solo exhibition exploring ten years of paintings by Los Angeles based artist Rebecca Farr. Using bold color, line, and texture and reacting to intuitive impulses, Farr’s work unfolds as large scale expressionistic explorations of humanity and lore.

Over the past decade, Farr’s paintings have encompassed diverse creative explorations centered around human appetite. From her examination of Goya’s monumental work “Disasters of War " to her depictions of erotic picnics and sumptuous feasts, she has navigated the traditional realms of figure, landscape, and still life. Her quest seeks to elucidate the sacred and profane dimensions of human consumption.

Farr’s gestural paintings seamlessly integrate impressionistic and classical techniques, forging a distinctive language articulating her study of human desire. The paintings are characterized by elements that can be playful, celebratory, or satirical. Her application of color emerges from an intuitive response to her subject matter, resulting in a uniquely constructed palette that resonates organically with each painting.
