Renewal Through Color
"Renewal Through Color" features an expansive selection of figurative, expressionist and abstract art made by artists represented by the BWG dating as far back as the late 1900s on to today, 鈥淚 noticed as we started to select the art for this exhibition, that many of the pieces seemed to anchor in the color orange,鈥 says Walker. 鈥淐urious, I looked up the meaning of that color. Orange is the body鈥檚 2nd energy chakra, the creative chakra. It enhances the feelings of warmth, enthusiasm, stimulation, nurturing, happiness, freedom, fascination and relates to our ability to experience pleasure. We are emerging from a long very emotional winter world-wide, feeling compassion alongside our angst over our inability to solve the horrors of war, fires, earthquakes, poverty, starvation. But the miracle of the arts 鈥 visual, musical, rhythm, in words and movement 鈥 is that they very importantly nurture the spirit.鈥漌alker loves the challenge of gallery-wide group exhibitions and remains amazed at what pieces of art 鈥渞equest" wall space in the moment, and which other works those pieces want to create with. As Hans Hofmann once posited: 鈥淩elations 鈥榠n the creative sense鈥 are of a supersensory nature. Creation depends entirely on the inner vision of the artist鈥ts meaning can only be extended through relation with other things in a process of metamorphosis. This is then creation.鈥 Walker adds: to the artists鈥 creations, viewers bring in their own special & personal component of spirit and emotional response; often, that is when the art finds its most perfect home.鈥
