Rona Kant & Gwen Adair
Rona developed her passion for painting when she moved to the Highlands of Scotland in 2000. Inspired by the majestic surroundings of the Cairngorms National Park where she lives, she started to paint in acrylics to capture the light and convey the intense colours which are evident in her work today.
Gwen Adair's recent work has been split between landscape painting, birds and portraiture, with some figurative painting mixed in.
She is most notably drawn to performers and their enigmatic lifestyles, sinister and exciting. Landscape painting is a fairly new venture for Gwen, its demand for a balance of pattern and shape, gives scope for exploring colour and mark-making in a way that feeds back to her figurative work. With traditional themes , she works quickly in an 鈥渁lla prima鈥 fashion, creating a certain spontaneity to the work.
