Gagosian is pleased to announce Selection, an exhibition of sculpture and paintings on view from June 16 through June 22 at its permanent gallery at Rheinsprung 1, a short walk from the Art Basel fair.
The exhibition complements and extends Gagosian鈥檚 presentation at Art Basel, which is curated by Francesco Bonami, as well as four large-scale installations by gallery artists in the fair鈥檚 Unlimited sector. This eclectic presentation features works both by artists who have recently come to be represented by Gagosian and by longtime stalwarts of the gallery. Brimming with vibrant color and dynamic forms, this group of contemporary works unites visual excitement, disarming wit, and conceptual sophistication.
A centerpiece of Selection is a new sculpture by Lauren Halsey that combines minimalist structure with maximalist color and graphic design. Framed in gold, its hand-painted signs are modeled after those of establishments in South Central Los Angeles and advertise declarations, aspirations, and references to her community鈥檚 past and present.
Kathleen Ryan鈥檚 sculpture Bad Melon (Juicy) (2025) is a scaled-up representation of a decaying fruit peel composed with an abundance of colorful beads and minerals and the bumper of a 1969 Chevrolet Impala. Joining traditional craft with emblems of overconsumption, Ryan juxtaposes luxury and repulsion with a humorous edge.
Adam McEwen鈥檚 Ticket Window (2017) is a wall-mounted relief that replicates the front of a kiosk in graphite, decontextualizing a fragment of urban infrastructure. Sabine Moritz鈥檚 painting Mars (2025) is an improvised 鈥渕ental landscape鈥 with flashes of red and emergent figures that resonate with the mythological themes invoked by its title. Blending punk and minimalist styles, a new work by Jordan Wolfson pictures a figure with a mohawk surrounded by a large metal frame that is flanked by spikes.
