Spotlight: Latin America
Spotlight: Latin America will celebrate the contributions of 37 artists from the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America. The paintings, prints, photographs, drawings and sculptural worksâroughly 50 in allâwill be drawn mostly from the Harnâs modern, contemporary and photography collections with additional loans from private Gainesville collectors. The works will be organized along broad themes including portraiture, figural studies, abstraction, architecture, spirituality and religious expression, the nostalgia of childhood, and the celebration of indigenous culture, music and dance.
The exhibition will feature artists representing Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. It will include many famous names in Latin American art such as Ăngel Botello, Lorenzo Homar, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, RenĂ© Portocarrero, Alfredo Ramos MartĂnez, Diego Rivera, SebastiĂŁo Salgado, Rufino Tamayo, JoaquĂn Torres-GarcĂa, Rafael Tufiño and Francisco ZĂșñiga.
