Stumbling Through
Life throws us curveballs. It's a good time to take stock and resituate ourselves in the new reality. But where's the map? As artists, the map is usually in ourselves - in our experience, in our communities, and in our art practice, no matter what form that takes. We all know that artmaking is not a straight line. We start a project and we move zigzag, or in a spiral, not exactly toward the thing we started with. And sometimes it leads to a dead end. But nothing is wasted - even dead ends are an experience we can build from, and take off in a new direction.
Stumbling Through is a group member exhibition juried and organized by the Exhibitions Committee members of Da Vinci Art Alliance. In response to our current socio-political climate, the pieces in this exhibition were selected based on how well they responded to the theme of 鈥渄etours and dead ends.鈥 With over 25 artist members represented and a wide range of media, Stumbling Through offers viewers a survey of escape routes, hiding places, shortcuts, dead ends, and highways to navigate the coming times.
