Taking the Scenic Route
Each artist interprets the land as a record of time and space in a unique way. Beau Carey and Jennifer Nehrbass use traditional landscape painting techniques but combine elements from different locations to create idealized fragmented landscapes. Sean Hudson, Daniel McCoy, Jr., and Thomas Frontini take a more fanciful approach. Hudson uses the uncommon technique of drawing with a router on painted wood panels to create luminescent paintings. McCoy鈥檚 thick black linework echos that of comic books. Frontini鈥檚 surreal landscapes are evocative of storybooks with pastel melting mountains. This is the first time the gallery will be showing work by Hudson, Nehrbass, and McCoy, Jr.
