The Collection Enriched

Apr 16, 2011 - Apr 01, 2013
The presentation of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen’s collection is rearranged every two years. This time it has been enriched with more than twenty loans from other Dutch museums and from the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp. Twenty first-rate pieces from elsewhere and more than thirty superb works from the museum’s own reserves contribute to a refreshing installation of more than 350 paintings and sculptures from the Western art dating 1500 to 1940.

The extraordinary collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen houses unique masterpieces by artists from Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and ¶Ùü°ù±ð°ù, to Rubens, Rembrandt and Titian, but also Kandinsky and Magritte. Among the twenty or more paintings, that will enrich the museum's collection, are works by Tintoretto and Goya. The museum in Antwerp is even lending a portrait by Hans Memling.

The guest curator of The Collection Enriched is Peter Hecht, enabled by Rembrandt Associaton Fellowship and Professor of the History of Art at Utrecht University. The display is designed by the stylist Maarten Spruyt in association with the visual artist P. Struycken, responsible for the palette of gallery colours.

‘The Collection Enriched’ has been made possible by: our main patron, the Rembrandt Association. With thanks to Sikkens, BankGiro Loterij and Rabobank Rotterdam. Additional funding was supplied by the request of Mrs van Riemsdijk-Borsje (2006).
