The Most Beautiful Works on Paper

Feb 07, 2010 - Apr 14, 2010
The most beautiful works on paper February 7th, 2010 - April 14th, 2010For the exhibition The most beautiful works on paper, the public itself selected 50 masterpieces from the collection that are rarely, if ever, exhibited at the museum. A new interactive exhibition concept to make this possible has been especially developed by the museum: Expose (www.kmm.nl/expose). From December 3 2009 until January 17 2010, everybody could decide – digitally – which work of art should be included in the exhibition.

In total, 1212 people have voted, a big succes! On the website Expose you can see which works will be part of the exhibition. The Top 3 includes Horse by Marino Marini (no.1), Marie Botkine in an astrakhan coat by Odilon Redon (no.2) and Woman-dancer by Pablo Picasso (no.3).

With Expose the museum is opening up an exceptional and relatively unknown part of its collection of drawings, gouaches, lithographs and etchings. Due to their fragile nature, these are rarely exhibited but give a wonderful impression of the many-sidedness of both the museum collection and the techniques used by the chosen artists.
