The Playroom: Prints by A. Jones, RB Kitaj, J. Tilson 鈥 Online Exhibition
Marlborough Graphics is pleased to present The Playroom, an online exhibition of prints by Allen Jones, R.B. Kitaj and Joe Tilson.
Focusing their practice on appropriating images from the media, the advertising and the consumer environment, these artists shaped a distinct aesthetics at the end of the 1950s that was soon to be identified as British Pop Art.
In different ways and following their own interests, the artists have explored the theme of the female figure as filtered by popular culture, mixing it with examples drawn from other sources, such as art history.
The Playroom investigates this theme through a selection of prints by Tilson and Kitaj spanning the 1960s and the 1970s. A group of more recent works by Jones complete the online show.
