Tudo Joia
The Tudo Joia exhibition鈥檚 concept is introducing a view of the production of the 20th century artists who, under several intentions, conceived and conceive their creations by having the body as a support of the artistic thinking. Under the Bergamin & Gomide curatorship and with the collaboration of the Rafael Moraes antiquarian, the exhibition will be held from October 28 to November 26 at the Bergamin & Gomide Gallery, in Jardins, S茫o Paulo. The architect Marieta Ferber subscribes specific design for the exhibition.
There will be about 60 pieces on display, including modernist creations such as those created by Di Cavalvanti and Burle Marx, the contemporary works by Antonio Dias and Roy Lichtenstein with his lush Pop Art, and artworks by other artists who created for the first time exclusively for the exhibition. In all, nearly 40 artists will exhibit their treasures of silver, gold and other noble materials 鈥 or not so noble. However, the cast鈥檚 diversity also assures diversified and, most importantly, timeless pieces.
For Antonia Bergamin, who is responsible for the gallery and one of the exhibition鈥檚 curators, this exhibition is a special moment. 鈥淚 also want to introduce an aspect of the artists鈥 production that few people know. In a strong way, Tudo Joia is an exhibition for curious people. At some point, many artists we know and admire have ventured in the drawing of usable objects, and just few people know that, because it鈥檚 something that is specific and experimental. The exhibition is an opportunity to see those pieces gathered in one place and understand how they relate to the rest of the artist鈥檚 production,鈥 concluded Antonia.
In his study which is part of the 鈥淎rte F铆sica鈥 series, Cildo Meireles created a ring made of silver, clay, onyx, amethyst and sapphire. S么nia Gomes will introduce her embroidered-fabric-based jewelry, impacting us with her contemporary Baroque. Jewelries by Di Cavalcanti were executed in partnership with the jeweler Lucien Finkelstein in Rio de Janeiro 鈥 a ring and a pendant made of gold and enamel. All of those rarities will be on display in the exhibition.
Roberto Burle Marx introduced his landscaping thinking in the jewelry design and revolutionized the Brazilian jewelry with necklaces, bracelets, brooches and rings made of gold and silver and adorned with free-stoning stones. Such pieces were developed in the atelier at the Roberto and Haroldo Burle Marx brothers鈥 jewelry. At that time, jewelries were generally made of gold and stones. The pieces that will be showed at the exhibition were cut following the stone鈥檚 natural fibers and in organic formats viewed in the artist鈥檚 landscaping work. A golden brooch, a ring made of gold and tourmaline and a set of necklace and earrings made of gold and tourmaline will bring the jeweler Burle Marx to the scene.
