Under the Influence of the Ellipse
carlier | gebauer, Berlin, is pleased to announce the group exhibition, Under the Influence of the Ellipse, including works by Michel Fran莽ois, Iman Issa, Julie Mehretu, Paul Pfeiffer, Jessica Rankin, Jorinde Voigt and Emily Wardill.
Inspired by Nicole Miller鈥檚 exhibition, To the Stars, the exhibition brings together works of artists revolving around the idea of the elliptical. The figure of the ellipse in literature from the Greek 鈥榚llipsis鈥�, refers both to a presence and an absence in our visual imagination to a trajectory, a movement 鈥� the celestial bodies orbiting a star or another planet. As if expanding on the experience of the laser and the choreographically moves in the adjacent space, the works seem to react emotionally and formally to the installation, entering in dialogue with this possibility of hope and transformation.
