Work of the week: Alberto Arboleda
Alberto Arboleda was a colombian ceramist, sculptor and engraver.
In the mid-twentieth century he participated in the artistic movement that consolidated the beginnings of cultural modernity in Colombia. In 1952 he moved to Europe where he finally established and spread his work.
This piece is a reflection of his ancestral trails, a collage-assemblage full of symbolism and details, an evocative work with accents of pre-Hispanic culture that refer to a work of an artisan but at the same time synthesizes the formal and conceptual syncretism of the artist.
