Istanbul Modern seeks to integrate the experience of Turkey鈥檚 artistic past, the dynamism of its present, and the cultivation of its cultural future. Founded in 2004, Istanbul Modern is the first private museum devoted to modern and contemporary art in Turkey, and its vision is founded upon the promotion of a wider understanding of modern art. Located next to the Bosphorus, the straight which separates Europe and Asia, the Museum brings together Istanbul`s diverse cityscape of the arts, ranging from painting, sculpture, photography, video and new media.

The Museum, which aims to collect, preserve and exhibit modern and contemporary art, also seeks to provide a venue actively fostering the integration of the visual arts and the rich cultural spectrum of Turkey. Istanbul Modern`s collections, exhibitions and educational programs foster engagement in and love for the arts amongst audiences of all ages and segments of society. Strengthening the creative exchange between the art of Turkey and the West, Istanbul Modern presents artistic and cultural experiences of its country and culture to the world.
