Partner Gallery Introduction: Mark Moore Fine Art

Mark and Hilarie Moore embarked on their journey in the art world when they founded their gallery in October of 1984 in Long Beach, California. For over forty years, the Mark Moore Gallery has become synonymous with highly regarded exhibitions, art fairs, and special projects. What began as a small venture – two employees working out of an old auto garage, exhibiting the work of classmates and Mark’s instructors – has since grown to become a staple in the contemporary art scene of Southern California.

Mark, who received his degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1981, has always had a passion for promoting the work of contemporary artists. As a graduate of UCI's progressive art program, he shared the same aesthetic and emphasized the work of emerging artists in areas such as post-modernism, spirituality, minimalism, and conceptualism.

The Moores have also made it a priority to support art education through various programs such as free tours to studios and museums, lectures, and panel discussions. Mark has been a frequent guest lecturer at art institutions in Southern California and has served on the steering committee for the Fine Arts Advisory Board at University of California Irvine, California State University Long Beach, and the Laguna Art Museum Collections.

The gallery's first space in Orange County was quickly recognized by The Orange County Register as one of the top ten galleries in Southern California in 1988. Just a year later, in 1989, Mark was selected as the first recipient of the L.A. Artcore Award of Merit in the Arts. Since then, the Mark Moore Gallery has continued to showcase groundbreaking exhibitions and has been recognized by The Art Market Guide as one of the top 35 galleries in America.

A notable moment in the gallery's history was the organization of a monumental sculpture exhibition by Mark Di Suvero in 1998 in collaboration with the Orange County Museum of Art. The exhibition, which lasted for nine months, was the largest outdoor display of Di Suvero's work in the United States in over two decades.
