Darryl Cowherd

Biography

Darryl Cowherd is a veteran professional photographer, tenured broadcast news writer and editor.

In 2014, he was the recipient of the Edward R. Murrow award for Breaking News.

His photographs have been published both nationally and internationally in numerous books, magazines, newspapers and other periodicals.

The public/private collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the Smart Museum at the University of Chicago house or have exhibited Cowherd’s photographs.

Recently, his images were exhibited at the Tate Modern Museum in London, the Chicago Cultural Center, Northwestern University, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Broad Museum in Los Angeles. Additionally he has exhibited in several other group shows. Currently, Cowherd’s images are included in the historic “Soul of a Nation” exhibition.
