For the February 2025 Art Diary, I begin with exhibitions by artists I鈥檝e followed and whose work I鈥檝e written about. These include Peter Howson, Jonathan Anderson, Barbara Hepworth and Theaster Gates.

The early 20th century was an era of dramatic social and political upheaval. Futurism, the art movement that began in Italy, embodied a love affair with speed and new technology that 鈥榓imed to liberate Italy from the weight of its past鈥�.

鈥楬ere, as in Heaven鈥� is the title of Ndidi Emefiele鈥檚 current exhibition, a body of work representing the artist鈥檚 philosophical attempt to understand the tragic death of her sister.

Upstairs at The Print Center, I am met with a faint clicking noise, and the occasional scratch-like accent. Turning right, I find the source of the noise: 鈥淛ames Siena typing at the American Academy, Rome鈥� (2013, 4:43).
