EXPO CHICAGO returns to Navy Pier on April 24, and while there will be a great deal of attention on all that happens on-site at the fair, there is a lot happening throughout the city.

This beautifully selected and flawlessly installed exhibition offered a focused survey from a critical decade in Sylvia Plimack Mangold鈥檚 career.

Rather than trying to fool us with her representational paintings or showing off her virtuosity in the realm of resemblance, everything is on the surface.

Parrasch Heijnen is currently presenting A Particular Kind of Heaven, a group show curated by artist Ali Dipp which began on May 6th, and will continue through June 3rd, 2023.

In this sense, Mangold鈥檚 subject is the act of perception. Her paintings investigate how we see, and the nature of sight and subjectivity itself.
