MarK Chagall: The Origins of the Master's Creative Language

Vivid in color and texture, Chagall's art reflects a distinct mix of sources and ideas. The artist borrowed from many art movements, but he never followed any art school. Chagall鈥檚 work depended on many sources, including Jewish, Russian, Byelorussian, Lithuanian and French environment, which had been inspiring him during all his life.


The anniversary exhibition presents more than 100 paintings, sculptures and drawings from the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State museum of fine arts of A.S.Pushkin, the Russian Museum of Ethnography, the State Museum of Decorative and Applied arts, the Pierre Gianadda Foundation (Switzerland), Russian and foreign private collections. This display comprises unique graphical works of the master, many of which belong to the Chagall鈥檚 family collection.
