'A pocketful of dreams'. Art Deco Fashion in the Collections of the State Hermitage Museum and Nazim Mustafayev
The bulk of the exhibits are beaded dresses and shoes from that time. The clothing on view includes articles produced by celebrated Western European fashion designers such as Paul Poiret, Jeanne Lanvin, Mariano Fortuny, Edward Molyneux and Lucien Lelong. The collection of footwear on show features shoes by prominent shoe designers: Pietro Yantorny, Andr茅 Perugia, Israel Miller, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hellstern & Sons, Netch et Frater, Francois Pinet, Saks Fifth Avenue and many other manufacturers. Visitors are also invited to explore the collection of celluloid heels 鈥 a full-fledged type of Art Deco shoe accessories, whose production was raised to the level of art in France.
Also on display are the pearls of the Hermitage holdings of paintings and drawings of that period: canvases by Henri Matisse and Kees van Dongen along with works by Raoul Dufy, 贰谤迟茅 and other masters. Complementing the exhibition are the 1920s film posters from the Hermitage collection of prints.
