This body of work is a continuation of French鈥檚 exploration into painting and his interest in bringing painting into sculptural forms. There is a quiet conversation that the artist engages with, a dance of spontaneity, intuition and preparation, in large part informed by his many years of painting carved-wood sculpture. This series of abstract works balances geometric rhythm with organic movement and texture, creating an evocative play between shape and color.
