David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed, Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation

This fall, the Honolulu Museum of Art (HoMA) presents David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed, Prints from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, a retrospective of one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. The exhibition is the largest North American retrospective print exhibition of Hockney鈥檚 career, with more than 100 colorful prints, collages and photographic and iPad drawings in a variety of media spanning six decades of the artist鈥檚 career.

Highlighting some of Hockney鈥檚 (b. 1937) most celebrated series and individual prints, the exhibition presents a wide range of styles, from the artist鈥檚 earliest etchings of the mid-1950s and 60s to his recent experimental iPad drawings. Best known for vivid scenes such as Southern California swimming pools, intimate abstracted portraits, playful theater designs and expansive landscape panoramas, the exhibition showcases the artist鈥檚 iconic and inventive style, reinforcing his international reputation as one of the foremost avant-garde realists of our time.
