Drawings From The South Of America: Master Drawings

Henrique Faria & Herlitzka & Co. are pleased to present Drawings from the South of America on the occasion of Master Drawings week in New York City. The exhibit features an array of Latin American artists, from masters Joaqu铆n Torres-Garc铆a (Uruguay, 1874鈥1949), Willys de Castro (叠谤补锄颈濒,1926鈥1988), H茅rcules Barsotti (Brazil, 1914鈥2010), Gerd Leufert (Lithuania, 1914鈥 Venezuela, 1998) and Marisol (France, 1930鈥 USA, 2016), to conceptual practitioners Horacio Zabala (Argentina, 1943), Osvaldo Romberg (Argentina, 1938鈥 Israel, 2019), Mirtha Dermisache (Argentina, 1940鈥 2012), Leandro Katz (Argentina, 1938), to contemporary artists Esvin Alarc贸n Lam (Guatemala, 1988), Emilio Chapela (Mexico, 1978), Mercedes Elena Gonz谩lez (Venezuela, 1952), Karina Peisajovich (Argentina, 1966), Luis Rold谩n (Colombia, 1955) and Eduardo Santiere (Argentina, 1962) amongst many others.

The works selected demonstrate the diversity of technique and content applied to the paper medium over the course of the past fifty years and how the notion of 鈥榙rawing鈥 is being expanded and revitalized.

Drawings from the South of America shows the versatility of such a common medium and the originality of the works thus conceived. With different themes and styles juxtaposed throughout the gallery, the exhibition aims to highlight the transformation, tumult and originality of modern and contemporary Latin America.
