An incomprehensible act has disturbed the serenity of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. A 19-year-old tourist from Texas threw water on a masterpiece by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres before damaging other works.
Last May the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York announced that photography collector Artur Walther, via his Walther Family Foundation, had made a promised gift to the museum of more than 6,500 works.
