Dwelling in Motion
School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents 鈥淒welling in Motion,鈥� a juried exhibition of works by SVA students. Organized by SVA Galleries, 鈥淒welling in Motion鈥� is on view Tuesday, August 9, through Monday, September 19, 2022, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 141 West 21st Street, New York City.
"Dwelling in Motion" analyzes the constantly growing relationship between habitat and inhabitant. In the same way that someone occupies a room or lives in a community, internal entities also take up residence in our lives, including our personalities and identities. These facets of oneself change and mature over time, creating unique structures that give form to knowledge and emotions. The ten artists in this exhibition use a variety of media, including textiles, painting, photography and sculpture. Connecting the bodies, societies and spaces we live within, these works portray the memories, disorders and ideals that inspire and shape our experiences.
