The ceaselessly moving imageries of novel media and technologies can provoke intense experiences, and they can induce extraordi颅nary emotional and psychological states. 鈥淓cstatic media鈥� designates two aspects: on the one hand, the potency of media consum颅er products such as videogames or beauty filters, which fuel emotional and social yearn颅ings; and on the other hand, media art鈥檚 strategy of confronting us with media struc颅tures in exaggerated form. Artists focus on particular characteristics of media and exam颅ine their impact by intensifying and amplify颅ing them.Media artists have long used 鈥渆cstatic me颅dia鈥� in an effort to expose the technological, aesthetic, and psychological effects of me颅dia.
