Erica Vincenzi: Now and Again and Yesterday Once More

Apr 05, 2025 - May 10, 2025

We are pleased to announce 鈥淓rica Vincenzi: Now and Again and Yesterday Once More,鈥 an exhibition of new and recent paintings by this young Los Angeles artist. 鈥淣ow and Again and Yesterday Once More鈥 is presented in conjunction with Rochele Gomez: It鈥檚 Just Not the Same Without You.鈥 Both shows open on Saturday, April 5 with an artists鈥 reception from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at as-is

In her first one-person exhibition at as-is, Erica Vincenzi presents a body of work defined by a compelling interplay between clarity and ambiguity, presence and obscurity. Her paintings, lusciously painted small and medium-sized oil on linen artworks, transform everyday images鈥攆lowers, landscapes, figures鈥攊nto evocative snapshots that resist easy interpretation. Though often based on her own photographs, her compositions do not simply reproduce reality; instead, they invite viewers into liminal spaces where meaning is both suggested and withheld.

Marked by a self-assured yet relaxed brushstroke, Vincenzi鈥檚 paintings balance vibrant color with an almost dreamlike sense of suspension. Time itself feels fluid in her work, as if each piece operates within its own temporal logic, much like memory or reverie. In Now and Again and Yesterday Once More, Vincenzi deepens this exploration, challenging viewers to navigate the shifting boundaries between past and present, the seen and the obscured.
