Please join us on March 7th (8pm鈥�1am) to celebrate the grand opening of our additional exhibition space, The Boiler, located several blocks from our current location in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Pierogi will continue to operate at 177 North 9th Street, where we feature one-person exhibitions, as well as Pierogi鈥檚 Flat Files. The Boiler (191 N. 14th St.) is a more expansive space that will allow us to mount larger-scale sculpture, painting, and installation exhibitions. It is a former factory boiler room with 40-foot ceilings where we will also hold performances, screenings, readings, and other events. The inaugural exhibition will include works by three gallery artists: Tavares Strachan, Yoon Lee, and Jonathan Schipper. We will show, for the first time in New York, an ambitious project by Strachan, 鈥淭he Distance Between What We Have and What We Want (Arctic Ice Project).鈥� The centerpiece of this installation is a 4.5 ton block of ice, brought from the arctic and kept frozen in a solar-powered glass freezer. (See attached press release for full details.) We will also show a dramatic twenty-foot painting by Yoon Lee and Jonathan Schipper鈥檚 鈥�215 Points of View鈥濃�攁 6-foot diameter sphere covered with 215 surveillance cameras and corresponding monitors鈥攕uspended from the ceiling. While you鈥檙e there visit the Gutter鈥攁 bar and 8-lane bowling alley open until 4am鈥攄irectly across the street. On view concurrently at PIEROGI (177 N. 9th St.) will be an installation by Brian Dewan (Housed) and the first US exhibition of Swedish photographer Nadja Bournonville (Part Two: Amor omnia vincit), on view through March 8th.
