Hybrid Forms is an exhibition of works by ten artists whose practices cross disciplines. Made in the last decade, each piece is a sculpture that incorporates digital technology, video, sound, or light. The exhibition begins conceptually with
Nam June Paik鈥檚 altered analog television, first created in 1963, and continues through Kurt Mueller鈥檚 interactive karaoke machine made in response to President Obama鈥檚 election. This exhibition offers a quiet alternative to the bombardment of media that has characterized a decade of massive technological growth. Each artist contributed to the discipline of media art, a discipline that is finally being recognized as equal to traditional art practices and, in fact, has possibly even transcended them.
