Making an Impression: Printmaking Possibilities

Oct 03, 2019 - Jun 13, 2020

Making an Impression celebrates the expressive potential for artists to create works on paper through various printmaking processes. Drawn entirely from the museum’s permanent collection, this exhibition features over thirty artworks by many well-known artists including both California favorites and internationally recognized names.

Some of the artists represented in this exhibition are regarded as master printers while others are better known for other mediums, such as ceramics and photography. Together their works demonstrate the nuanced possibilities of diverse techniques – ranging from etchings to monotypes, lithographs to woodcuts – to produce lasting impressions on paper produced by endless combinations of ink, pressure, and patience.
