The Abstract Future
The Abstract Future, curated by Alia Dahl, documents a new generation of artists who are redefining abstraction by merging sculpture, painting, photography, and performance. Spanning both our Los Angeles galleries, the exhibition highlights over thirty artists who are simultaneously exploring process and materiality while addressing themes of identity, culture, and political beliefs to reflect their unique personal narratives.
California has a rich history of abstraction, from the Light and Space movement and Finish Fetish to the development of geometric abstraction and conceptual art. The Abstract Future builds upon this legacy, presenting artists who infuse abstraction with fresh perspectives鈥揹rawing inspiration from historical influences, current events, environmental changes, astronomical exploration, and advancements in technology and science.
The Abstract Future is an international exhibition, featuring artists from Europe, South America, and Africa, alongside those based across the United States. This global perspective underscores the universal relevance of abstraction as a method of creative production and its capacity to offer insight into the human experience across cultures and contexts.
