Miko艂aj Smoczy艅ski is one of the greatest artists from Lublin. For many years he has been connected with Galeria Labirynt. He was known for creative photographs which were, especially in the 1980s, the effect of performative actions carried out in the studio in front of a camera. 鈥淭he Secret Performance鈥� series was exhibited for the first time at Labirynt 2 during the exhibition accompanying 鈥淩ecords 2鈥� artistic symposium curated by Andrzej Mroczek. The artist also created his first installation at that time. He soon became known for his spatial and environment projects. In Lublin, one could see, among others, the first implementation of 鈥淧hotos鈥� series entitled 鈥淧hoto鈥� (Galeria Grodzka BWA, 1990), the monumental environment 鈥淧arallel Action鈥� (Galeria Stara BWA, 1992), and 鈥淣owapraca鈥� installation (Galeria Labirynt 2 BWA, 1999), which completely changed gallery space, reducing it to the limit. The exhibition organised 10 years after the artist鈥檚 death is going to be the first in a series analysing his artistic work. Photographs from the collection of Galeria Labirynt, including 鈥淭he Secret Performance鈥�, are going to be presented at the exhibition.
