My Reflection of You

Feb 24, 2022 - Jun 25, 2022

The Perimeter is proud to present My Reflection of You, a new group exhibition featuring contemporary works from two private collections. Alexander Petalas and Russell Tovey have selected works that highlight common themes and dialogues running through both of their collections. This exhibition explores the symbiotic nature of collecting: the ways in which an individual informs and shapes their own personal collection and how this in turn can create a wider dialogue with others.

The exhibition shares its title, My Reflection of You, with a painting by Ana Benaroya which welcomes visitors to the exhibition. The painting depicts two figures that almost seem to be mirror images of each other, inviting the question 鈥渨hich one of us is me?鈥

Russell Tovey, on the exhibition: 鈥淚 am excited to share works from my private collection that have given me great joy and much needed contemplation over the years. That鈥檚 the real magic of collecting, being able to share it! I hope the audience find enjoyment and inspiration through this exhibition.鈥 Alexander Petalas explains, 鈥淲e wanted to allow the audience an opportunity to pause, have a quiet moment and enjoy some of the works that are important to us and have helped shape not only our collections but also our respective sense of self.鈥

By bringing together works by leading contemporary artists, My Reflection of You gives visitors an insight into how today鈥檚 contemporary art landscape is shaping these two collections and the themes that connect them. Artists featured in the exhibition include Phyllida Barlow, Ana Benaroya, Leidy Churchman, Shawanda Corbett, Ann Craven, Katharina Fritsch, Sanya Kantarovsky, Jonathan Lyndon-Chase, Tojin Ojih Odutola, Paula Siebra, Wolfgang Tillmans, Salman Toor and Joseph Yaeger.
