The German-Italian
artist Rosa Barba (* 1972 Agrigento, Italy) has created a spatial installation for the MdbK on the large terrace on the 2nd floor, in which she addresses the physical perception of light and space. Coloured glass floats in a modernist second ceiling. The result is a room within a room that opens up transparently to a space behind and above. The terrace thus becomes a giant camera lens that focuses and projects light. Through this quasi-photographic process, time acquires a form, appearing as daylight in its different qualities. Barba thus addresses a fundamental shift: while digital spaces increasingly define our perception, space and time remain unambiguously physical experiences. At the same time, Barba emphasizes the relevance of the analogue in a digital world.
