Nepalese Shamanism: Ritual Objects from Nepal, with Photographs by Kevin Bubriski

Jan 28, 2010 - Mar 16, 2010
Despite the ongoing modernization of Nepalese culture and society, shamans are still consulted for healing, divination, and for the appeasement of hostile spirits. This exhibition includes a broad variety of items that are employed in shamanic ceremonies.

They are accompanied by a series of photographs of Nepal by Kevin Bubriski, who spent many years there and has published two books on the region. Many of his photographs are in major collections throughout the United States, including MOMA and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
