Oleg Voukolov
The exhibition features more than 50 paintings and graphic works by the Russian artist, now living and working in France. Having graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Arts, Oleg Vukolov took part in major exhibition projects and European forums of modern art. His long-term career in art is recognized by numerous awards and titles.
The exhibition consists of the works of recent decades, in which the main characters are... pillows. Inseparable from our everyday life, they retain their quiet existence in direct proximity to the human body. However, Oleg Vukolov鈥檚 pillows are also a plastic unit, an integral part of his artistic space. The author crumples, squishes, binds, fluffs his pillows, puts them in a real environment, makes them part of installations, or paints them as part of abstract compositions. For the author, pillows are a kind of archetype, representing traces of human existence. They save memory, allowing to abstract from the direct image of a person by addressing more complex matters and images.
