Opening Perrotin Secondary Market

Sep 04, 2021 - Dec 18, 2021

Perrotin Secondary Market is opening its doors on September 7, 2021 at the 8 avenue Matignon, Paris; the inaugural exhibition will present an array of artists and movements showcasing the new venture’s activity. The group show will take over all five floors of the newly renovated townhouse with works by Georg Baselitz, Alexander Calder, Maurizio Cattelan, Lucio Fontana, Peter Halley, Keith Haring, Yves Klein, Glenn Ligon, Georges Mathieu, François Morellet, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Saul, Lee Ufan, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, amongst others.

Last December, Perrotin announced the creation of its Secondary Market structure with the partnership of Emmanuel Perrotin, Tom-David Bastok and Dylan Lessel. After a year of construction, the new 400m2 (4300 sq ft.) gallery is launching at the heart of the recently reinvigorated neighborhood, just a few steps away from the Parisian auction houses Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Artcurial or Piasa, as well as numerous galleries.

Within a scenography designed by Cécile Degos — who has notably designed numerous exhibitions for the Royal Academy of Arts, the Guggenheim museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Palais de Tokyo and the Musée d’Orsay — the opening exhibition will evolve over the course of a couple months, with rotating presentations dedicated to certain artists or themes.

Works from Perrotin’s roster of artists, such as Maurizio Cattelan, will dialogue with artworks ranging from Modern Art to Contemporary Art.

This new space offers great flexibility in installation and programming which will unfold exhibitions driven by current events.
