Patty Carroll: Demise and Debacle
Catherine Couturier Gallery is pleased to present gallery artist Patty Carroll's latest works in a solo exhibition, Demise and Debacle. The exhibition coincides with the release of Patty鈥檚 latest book Domestic Demise & Debacle, co-published by Catherine Couturier Gallery.
Patty Carroll has been known for her use of highly intense, saturated color photographs since the 1970鈥檚. Her ongoing project, 鈥淎nonymous Women,鈥� consists of a series of studio installations made for the camera, addressing women and their complicated relationships with domesticity. By camouflaging the figure in drapery and/or domestic objects, Carroll creates a dark and humorous game of hide-and-seek between her viewers and the Anonymous Woman. The photographs from this series were published as a monograph, Anonymous Women, officially released in January 2017 by Daylight Books, and in Anonymous Women: Domestic Demise published in 2020 by Aint-Bad Books. Domestic Demise & Debacle was released in 2025, published by Paper Street Co.
