In conjunction with his Duncan Phillips Lecture on March 17, 2011, the Scottish
painter Peter Doig (b. Edinburgh, 1959) has created four new paintings of black ravens. Some are depicted in front of tropical Poui trees, which are native to Trinidad, where the artist has been living and working since 2002. The paintings are Doig's response to a work in the Phillips's permanent collection,
Georges Braque's Bird (1955), which is installed on the opposite wall. This one-on-oneinstallation will be on view until May 12. All paintings are courtesy of the Michael Werner Gallery, New York.
