Westbeth Gallery and The Textile Study Group of New York are pleased to announce an exciting new show that explores the visual, dimensional and artistic language of fiber and textile. Manipulating surface and depth, with techniques ranging from computerized networks to traditional weaving, this juried show with over 50 fiber artists triumphs with inventiveness and sets a new paradigm for excellence in concepts, materials, form, and techniques.
This exhibit uniquely resonates with the history of Westbeth Artists Housing, now celebrating its 50th year since its opening in 1970. Bringing together diverse artistic disciplines, with an emphasis on providing affordable housing for artists and their families, Westbeth has created a dynamic fabric of an innovative community interwoven with passion, commitment and creativity.
The Textile Study Group of New York (TSGNY) in its 42nd anniversary this year, is dedicated to the study and appreciation of fiber arts in all forms, from historic cloth to contemporary installation, from textile design to tensile architecture.
