Stanek Gallery presents new works from painter Michael Bartmann, photographer Scott Farrell, and sculptor Katherine Stanek, in the second exhibition of the In Situ program!
Michael Bartmann brings his subjects to life in his paintings, evoking emotion through the use of spatial dimension, atmosphere, and defining architecture. Injecting his works with vibrant color, Bartmann creates an exciting tension within his paintings. The abandoned spaces of his works have a living, breathing presence, inviting the viewer to roam through the works as they might a literal, physical building.
Scott Farrell creates imagery with a painter鈥檚 eye, capturing abstract and imagined landscapes in non-manipulated photographs of the hulls of boats. At the forefront of Farrell's practice is a deep interest in tone, composition, and lighting. Texture and dimensional perspective play integral roles in the creation of Farrell鈥檚 evocative works, promoting a process of discovery for both the artist and the viewer.
Katherine Stanek's dynamic concrete sculptures are founded in the relationship between artist and material. Stanek鈥檚 works have a life and story of their own, and explore the notions of identity, resilience, and strength. Driven by concepts and questions, Stanek communicates in concrete the processes of destruction and rejuvenation inherent in the cycles of life.
