XXX Thirty Years Peter Blum Edition
Peter Blum Soho is pleased to announce the exhibition XXX Thirty Years Peter Blum Edition, on view September 10 through October 22, 2011.
This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of Peter Blum Edition, inaugurated in 1981. It has been recognized to be one of the first publishing houses in the United States to work with a new generation of European, Asian, and American artists and to make their work known and available to the larger public. For most of the artists this meant their first experience with making prints, and in dialogue with the publisher, they explored various mediums to express their ideas including poems and texts, music tapes, etc.
The majority of editions have been published in the form of portfolios which come in handmade boxes. The remainder come as individual prints andlimited edition books that are often accompanied by original prints.
In 1996 the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston purchased all of the archives and editions published by Peter Blum Edition. In 2006 a major exhibition was held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston with an elaborate book publication documenting the work entitled Singular Multiples, the Peter Blum Archive, 1980-1994.
The editions are included in major museum collections such as MoMA, New York, the New York Public Library, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Tate Gallery, London, the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Kunsthaus Z眉rich, and the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark.
