For a few days each June, the epicenter of the art trade shifts from New York to Basel, a small city on the border of France, Switzerland and Germany. There, the world鈥檚 top modern and contemporary fair, Art Basel, attracts scores of billionaire collectors.

Marc Spiegler, the global director of Art Basel, said Hong Kong has its galleries, while Miami is known for its private collections and Basel for its museums.
