Born in 1973 in Battambang, northwestern Cambodia, to a family of ten, Srey Bandaul spent most of his adolescence in the Site 2 Refugee Camp on the Thai-Cambodian border, for those displaced by the war between Vietnam and Khmer Rouge-controlled Cambodia.
