Adela Ka艂uzi艅ska: Portals
Portals is the first solo exhibition by Glasgow-based artist Adela Ka艂uzi艅ska, who鈥檚 work explores the relationship between time, memory, landscape and cultural identity.
Originally from Poland, Adela grew up in Orkney, and her work endeavors to capture the conflict she feels being connected to two different places, while considering the similarities and contrasts between them.
The artist describes her work as 鈥楲andscape Portraits鈥, with human existence captured without the presence of human form. The result is a dialogue between personal and collective memory of places of significance to the artist.
Collecting snap shots of locations, those of personal importance and those encountered by chance, Adela鈥檚 work depicts an aura of memory - illustrating an awkwardness and charm that highlights the boundary between human-made and natural forms, and how time has eroded elements, leaving behind ghosts and puzzles.
