Alexis Mata: Sublime Para铆so

25 Oct, 2025 - 21 Dec, 2025

A sense of melancholy pervaded his previous series, where landscapes often appeared as if viewed through broken glass. These images portrayed Nature from a synthetic perspective, like reflections of a shattered mirror that aspired for beauty. Throughout his career, Alexis Mata has explored the search for something beyond our current reality.

In Sublime Para铆so, the artist expresses an urgent need for change鈥攁 profound journey to rediscover the lost paradise within us all.

This artwork鈥檚 collection begins with the death of distortion鈥攖he exit from the illusion that has entrapped humanity in Maia for eras, creating the sense of separateness. In Alexis's desert geographies, a new life blossoms from the decay and is renewed in unexpected ways.

The serpent climbing the cactus symbolizes the transformation from a crawling creature to the elevation of our essential nature. Like the strands of our DNA, it ascends in a spiral.

The cavern painting may point to the emergence from a world where humanity could only see shadows on a wall instead of perceiving Truth. But, like prisoners being dragged out of the cave, it takes time to adapt to the light.

The sculptures of celestial bodies approaching Earth take on a prophetic significance with the arrival of the interstellar comet 3I Atlas. Sketched by Alexis over six months ago鈥攂efore the comet麓s discovery in our solar system 鈥攖hese artworks serve as harbingers of change and renewal, inviting viewers to envision a transformative future.

The storm cloud and thunder illustrate the force of Nature, which can be both awe-inspiring and frightening, yet it connects the Earth and sky and brings life-giving rain. After the storm passes, serenity arrives, marking a new chapter where connection lies in the sublime, a dimension that invites us to discover our inner Eden.

In this exhibition, Alexis Mata explores the multidimensional possibilities of the human experience, encouraging us to perceive reality as a flexible dimension and an emotional space in which to create.
