Berman over more than two decades, it includes important, iconic paintings and works on paper by artists including John Biggers (1924 - 2001), William H. Johnson (1901 - 1970), Jacob Lawrence (1917 - 2000), and Horace Pippin (1888 - 1946), and forms part of a broader American social realist collection put together by Berman during this same period.
